Background - Born and raised in Chicago, Sullivan went to Fenwick High School where he was recognized as one of the top three offensive linemen in the country. In 1996 and was named First Team All American in publications like Parade and Blue Chip magazine.
Sullivan went on to anchor the University of Illinois Fighting Illini offensive line, starting 45 consecutive games during his career (1997-2000). He was voted second team All-Big Ten in both 1999 and 2000 and voted third team All-America by the Football Writers Association after his senior season
In 2001, Sullivan was selected as a fifth-round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills. In 2003, Sullivan won the 6th Man Award, given to the team’s most-improved player. Sullivan started 26 games in his four-year career for the Buffalo Bills. He played the 2004-2005 season with the New York Giants and New England Patriots. In 2007, Sullivan spent time with the Chicago Rush Arena Football Team. He retired from football in 2007.
After his playing career he coached football for Fenwick High School working with the offensive line. From there he pursued an opportunity to coach for North Park University, again serving as offensive line.
In 2009, Sullivan received an opportunity to work for the United States Census Bureau as a partnership specialist team leader. He led a group of 13 former NFL players hired by the agency to develop grass roots awareness campaigns that educated the people in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana about 2010 Census participation. Under Sullivan’s leadership, the group reached more 135,000 people mainly consisting of K-12 students. Sullivan and his group visited more than 250 schools throughout the three state region, teaching students about the importance of civic responsibility, leadership, accountability and political processes.
Sullivan is an active philanthropist serving as the Executive Vice President for the National Football League’s Alumni
Association Chicago Chapter and 4th Vice President for the Retired Profesional Football Players of Chicago 501 c3. The RPFPC offers scholarship opportunities to 10 qualified student-athletes to attend the institute of higher learning of their choice each year.
Sullivan values the importance of education. He currently is a Master of Public Administration candidate at the University of Phoenix. He hopes to continue his success and influence in the school systems across the nation, implementing the Prep Consultant workshops for our youth. |
